This is the area of my site where I will talk a little about who I am, where I come from, where I hope to be going, and my likes and dislikes.
At the age of 29, I am a child of the 80's, and like many my age, I hold on to a good deal of the nostalgia of that particular era. Some of my favorite movies - The Dark Crystal, Labyrinth, and the Last Unicorn (I'm a big fan of fantasy. Is it obvious? Lol.) - are all 80's films. I still listen to a lot of music from that time period, but then again, I listen to all kinds of music, especially Celtic, classical, some rock, but nothing extremely heavy, and I'm really not a fan of rap or country (except some older songs). I especially like Evanescence, Fleetwood Mac, Stevie Nicks, Faith and the Muse, The Cure, and Billy Idol. I love books, especially romantic/fantasy, and don't watch very much TV. Some shows I do like include Frasier, Mork and Mindy reruns (I was so excited when I found season 1 on DVD!), SNL, The Simpsons, Desperate Housewives, and Jeopardy. When I am in the mood to play video games, I adore Final Fantasy, especially 7, mostly because of the story woven into the gameplay. Some activities I enjoy include PSP, graphic design, and computers, arts and crafts, exploring my new home, Seattle, looking for new and interesting things to do, and studying martial arts. Someone very special taught me some of the basics before he was sent to Iraq, so I have a starting point to which I try to add more knowledge and skill. At the moment I am a stay at home mom, but when I am able to do so, I plan to go back to school and study computers. I have a lot to catch up on, and it's never too late - I will reach my goals. My faith is very important to me, and I feel that it's gotten me through some very difficult parts of my life and still guides me every day. Every person has an individual viewpoint on that particular subject, and without forcing my opinion on anyone else or causing anyone to feel alienated, I can say that a central part of my own faith is that each religion has something valuable to offer, and in it's own way, is true. A passage of a book I read ages ago says, "All gods are the face of One God." I consider myself an ecclectic Pagan, because I don't have one particular tradition that I follow, although I am mostly strongly connected to Celtic/Arthurian faerie traditions. There are so many paths that lead to the Sacred. If religious tolerance were more commonplace, just imagine what the world could be like. It's a shame that people everywhere can't all learn something from each other and be free to offer our own insight in return. I feel that a life lived with a focus on spirituality is lived in balance, neither retreating from the world nor becoming so caught up in material things that the soul becomes neglected. Time spent in quiet contemplation is important, but it's also important to take the strength that can be gained in that aloneness and channel it into loving, caring service to others. To me, true prayer is both action and words. Whatever path you follow, taking care of others and the world around us is a central belief we all share. Diversity can unite us.
My "favorites" stamps were on the front page for awhile, but I decided for the sake of simplicity and organization, I would move them back here. Yes, there are tons, but I consider myself a diverse individual with an open mind and varied tastes. In fact, in time, I will probably add more icons, as I find more groups like the ones below that share the same interests that I do. >^..^<
